Paul’s Selection

Welcome to my own curated selection of Outrage + Optimism where I've carefully selected a series of conversations that I believe are not only timely but also crucial for anyone interested in the future of business and activism.

First up, transition plans. These are rapidly becoming a fundamental piece of business architecture that the world is just beginning to grasp. I can't stress enough how important it is that more people start thinking about transition plans. Business often feels stagnant, like it never really changes, but in reality, transition plans are revolutionizing how companies operate. It's something we should all be excited about, as they represent a new way of thinking and adapting in today's dynamic environment.

Next, we dive into Lifelines Part One, featuring Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. He's an incredible figure, relentlessly tackling the world's most pressing issues with unwavering tenacity. We also hear from Naomi Oreskes, who sheds light on the significant, and often unsettling, efforts by certain groups to undermine the political process. It's a topic everyone needs to be more informed about, as it directly impacts our democratic systems.

Then, we shift our focus to Kumi Naidoo, an activist whose work with Greenpeace has been nothing short of inspiring. What stands out to me is his emphasis on the role of culture in delivering the climate change message. This conversation is a reminder of how crucial it is to integrate cultural elements into our environmental advocacy if we want to make a lasting impact.

We also have Jane Fonda, a seasoned activist with a powerful voice. Her insights into how celebrities can use their influence to amplify the messages of those on the front lines are both moving and practical. Jane's eloquence and experience provide a clear blueprint for how public figures can be more than just faces—they can be repeaters of important messages that drive change.

Finally, I’m thrilled to highlight Lisa Neubauer, who is, without a doubt, one of the best strategists I've encountered in my career. Her work with Siemens, where she managed to completely shift their corporate thinking, is nothing short of extraordinary. Lisa has a natural understanding of how businesses fit into the larger system, and her ability to drive change is truly a superpower. I've had the privilege of telling her this personally, and I believe that as you listen to this episode, you'll recognize her immense talent and potential.

This collection of conversations offers valuable insights into the evolving landscape of business and activism. Each episode brings something unique to the table, and I hope they inspire you as much as they have inspired me.
